The Path of Patience

Well, we are two months into 2015 which seems like a good time to take the first pulse on your dreams, intentions, or goals. You may still feel the flush of energy that comes from new beginnings…it’s also possible that your drive may be wearing thin. It can be discouraging if we don’t see results right away and very often the response is to turn our attention to something else.

However, if we want to reach our goals, have successful relationships and achieve personal peace, it’s essential that we develop patience. Anything worthwhile and of importance cannot take place right away. It takes time, dedication and effort; so even in this day and age, patience is a virtue.

Meditation teacher Eknath Easwaran reminds us that “Patience is one of the most valuable allies in the difficult journey of self-transformation. When you are able to be patient with others, you can be patient with yourself, and that will give you all the inner support you need to persevere and make the changes you want to make in your life.”

In this moment bring your attention back to what you are choosing to focus on or create this year…and let your energy build in its strength. Now ask, “Who am I becoming on this journey?” This is an important question as it couples your goals with the process. Many successful people have said that who they must become in order to succeed is even more important than the goal itself.

Relaxation, success, freedom, and a delicious sense of spaciousness is available when you welcome patience into your life.
