For years parents have been told about the importance of play for their children, but what about its importance for grown-ups? The National Institute for Play believes that play can dramatically transform your personal health, relationships, productivity and intimacy!
According to the National Institute, play is the gateway to vitality. By its nature it is uniquely and inherently rewarding. It generates optimism, seeks out novelty, makes perseverance fun, leads to mastery and gives the immune system a lift. It also fosters empathy and promotes a sense of belonging and community.
Just as children need play to help them de-stress, adults need it to help them be at their best when it comes to career, parenting, and relationships. Instead of looking at play as a luxury or afterthought, consider it a great investment in your well-being.
We don’t need to play every second of the day to enjoy the benefits. In his book, “Play”, psychiatrist Stuart Brown calls it a catalyst. A little bit, he writes, can go a long way toward boosting your productivity and happiness.
To that end we are doing something a little different to get your playful juices flowing. Our fabulous Dré Lavack is hosting CIL’s very own version of the popular game show, Jeopardy! It’s entertaining and downright fun so come and give yourself the perfect boost!
