I am enjoying our exploration of the six human needs, and judging from the feedback I’ve received, it’s been a popular topic amongst those attending as well. This is one the many doorways that lead to a deeper understanding of ourselves and the people around us.
Here is a brief recap of the three needs we covered last Sunday:
Love and Connection: This is the need to love, be loved and have meaningful connections with people. If this leads the way, you are incredibly supportive and protective of those you love. You focus on those relationships and pride yourself in understanding and satisfying their needs.Your growing edge is to take care of yourself and know that you can be loved for who you are, not what you give.
Growth: Here there is a need to constantly develop new skills, learn new things, and improve at what you already know. You focus on studying, developing your skills and being the best you can possibly be; often opting to focus away from feelings in order to learn. The stretch for you is letting love and relationships be a priority as well as experiencing joy in ways other than learning.
Contribution: With this need, life is incomplete without knowing that you are making a difference. It is about wanting to give back and leave a mark on the world. You focus on how to be of service through meaningful causes and helping others. The stretch for you is finding a balance between taking care of yourself, others, and your service to the larger good.
Once again, there is so much more than can be included here. If you would like to listen to last week’s talk click here. You will also see a link to the needs test created by Cloe Madanes. It is a great tool to discover your primary needs.
Now, gathering information is interesting and expands your knowledge base but putting it into practice is where the magic happens. Come and see what magic awaits as we conclude the exploration and tie it all together!
